My vagina is sore after sex
Over the past six months, I’ve found that I get a
very sore vagina immediately after sex – and it normally takes two weeks for
me to recover.
My vagina becomes itchy and very sore and I have
thick yellow vaginal discharge for about a week. Eventually the pain goes and we
are able to have sex again.
However, it immediately gets worse again after sex. Sex is also My partner says
that he feels sore after sex and has itching but it is not as painful and
doesn't last as long as mine. What could this be?
RESPONSE
It’s very likely that you have the common vaginal 'bug' called Trichomonas
vaginalis. This causes soreness and a yellow discharge.
In men, it generally doesn't cause much in the way of symptoms – though your
man’s slight soreness and itching would be fairly typical.
Fortunately, ‘TV’ is easily curable – with a drug called Flagyl.
But as well as trichomonas there are various other possibilities, so really you
and your partner need some specialised tests.
So, the only sensible thing would be for both of you to go the nearest
genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic and have the tests done.
I'm sure that the experts there will rapidly be able to solve the problem. There
are a number of GUM clinics in the country where you live. If you ring your
nearest large hospital, they'll tell you where to find one.
